Setup Dokuwiki – Ubuntu 14.04 – LAMP

Dokuwiki is a very useful application if you want to keep track on your work and have the right documentation next time you are going to do the exacts same work. this is just one possibility and they are endless. It is easy to install and maintance, it dosn’t require a database so it is also easy to make a quick backup. One of the thins there is with Dokuwiki is that it isn’t like any other text-editor, I could write a long guide about how to add pages, sub pages and etc. but if you just use about an hour on youtube and the Dokuwiki’s syntax guide and tutorial then i think you allready will have a good hold on it. The first thing we are going to do is to create a temp folder “mkdir” and then download the files to the temp folder “wget” and unpack the files “tar xvf”

Then move the dokuwiki foolder into our apache root directories.

Give it the right permissions

Setup a virtual host in Apache

you dokuwiki.conf file should look like this (Be sure to get the directory right otherwise it won’t work)

You should be ready to install Dokuwiki now, you just have to enter One of the first thins I did after the installation was to change the template(Theme) because the standard template isn’t very interresting.
